Suspect in Several Camden County Retail Thefts Captured: Police

Gloucester Township and Winslow Township Police captured Willie D. Darren earlier this week.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- A Winslow Township man has been arrested and charged in connection with several retail crimes across the Camden County area, Gloucester Township Police said Wednesday morning.

Willie D. Darren, 45, has been charged with possession of CDS, robbery and two counts of shoplifting.
Police identified Darren as the suspect in several crimes while driving a 2012 Dodge Journey. Police allege he has been stealing televisions, DVDs, women's clothing, luggage, batteries, detergent, jewelry, gasoline, and hoagies/sandwiches.

“Known stores that have been victim to these crimes have been K-Mart,Walmart, Wawa, Family Dollar, and the Rainbow clothing store,” police said. “These stores are in various jurisdictions.”

On June 28, Darren attempted to steal several flat screen TVs from the Kmart store on Blackwood-Clementon Road.

However, he was stopped by store security. A brief struggle ensued, and he escaped on foot, police said.

On July 2, the Gloucester Township Police Department and the Winslow Township Police Department worked together to set up surveillance on an address in which Darren was known to be staying.

After police spotted him in a park area, they moved in and arrested him without incident.

Darren was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail.
