Fire Department Responds To Car Fire In Haddonfield

The fire was reported Thursday evening.

Haddonfield, NJ -- Haddonfield Fire Company No. 1 responded to the scene of a car fire in Downtown Haddonfield Thursday evening, Fire Chief Sam Trotman said.

One person was in the car, a 1997 Ford Explorer, when the fire began. That person was driving the car when they smelled something burning, Trotman said. The person pulled over, and saw smoke coming from the engine.

They were able to get out of the car by the time the fire spread to the passenger compartment, and began in earnest. No one was injured in the incident.

The fire department reported to the scene at about 4:40 p.m., and received assistance from Westmont. They were able to get the fire under control in about 10 minutes, Trotman said.

The car was towed from the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.
