Haddonfield is sponsoring a fundraiser Sunday, Nov. 18 for Hurricane Sandy survivors.

The two-hour Help and Hope concert will be held at the Haddonfield Memorial High School auditorium and will feature local talent. All proceeds will go to New Jersey first lady Mary Pat Christie’s Hurricane Relief Fund.

Performers donating their time and talent to this fundraising event include Maud Laforest and HMHS graduate Benjamin Beirs of the classical guitar group Duo Transatlantique, according to a borough news release. The pair has performed extensively in France and the United States, including at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. In addition, local Haddonfield performing favorites Doug Knight and Franny Smith will offer a medley of tunes on piano and banjo.

Singers from many of Haddonfield’s church choirs, as well as members of the Haddonfield-based New Jersey Master Chorale, under the direction of  Wayne and Harriet Richmond, will also lend their voices.

The event will be emceed by artistic director Scott Glading, head of the high’s school’s drama department, and CN8 anchor and former Miss New Jersey Jill Horner.

Event organizers continue to reach out to additional performers and potential celebrity guests to participate in this event to ensure its success for both attendees and the hurricane victims for whom it is being held. In addition, Gov. Chris Christie and the first lady have been personally invited to attend as special guests of the borough.
