Hasbrouck Heights Woman Had Infant Grandson With Her When She Allegedly Shoplifted From Mall: Police

The state will investigate Angela Arias, 51, for exposing her 2-month-old grandson 'to criminal activity,' police said.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — A woman with her 2-month-old grandson was caught shoplifting $700 worth of merchandise from the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne Saturday, police said.

Store security saw Angela Arias, 51, of Hasbrouck Heights, remove the price tags off $693 worth of items from Lord & Taylor and left the store without paying for them Saturday night, said Detective Capt. Laurence Martin.

Arias was arrested; she and her grandson were taken to Wayne Police headquarters. She was released on a summons complaint, the captain said.

The state Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified and will investigate Arias for “exposing the child to criminal activity, Martin said.
