Theater educator Joan Schubin says that if you could spend just 10 minutes with the "insanely talented" Bridgewater-Raritan High School Drama Club students, you would understand why they merit a little extra support for their upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast.
"They love performing, and are more than happy to put on shows with minimal sets and costumes, but 'Beauty and the Beast' calls for some special items," said Schubin on
her GoFundMe campaign page. "An extra $1,000 would help defray the costs for rental items like costumes, the enchanted rose and magical mirror."
As of Jan. 13, the fund had already attracted 15 donations totaling $500 in a week. A contribution of $15 gets a note of gratitude in the program; $40 a quarter-page ad for a business; $60 for a half-page ad; $90 for a full page and $140 for the inside or back cover.
Seeing the contributions flow in, Schubin commented on Sunday that she was "jumping for joy."
"With the help of two donors today, we have reached $500 and are halfway to our set goal! I can't stop smiling- thank you so much!! Onward to the next 50%!" Schubin wrote.
