Firefighters Stop Fully Engulfed Truck Fire From Spreading To Hillsborough Business

Volunteer firefighters found the truck fully engulfed in fire and smoke in the parking lot of Klein Recycling on Tuesday night.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Volunteer firefighters took an "aggressive attack" on a fully engulfed truck fire to stop it from spreading to a nearby business in Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

On Aug. 22 at 8:29 p.m., Hillsborough Police and Fire were called to 2156 Camplain Road (Klein Recycling) for a report of a motor vehicle fire in the parking lot of the business.

Emergency responders found a pickup truck fully engulfed in fire and smoke within close proximity to the business, said Hillsborough Police Sgt. Scott McCarthy.

Hillsborough Township Station 37 Fire "made an aggressive attack on the fire" and firefighters also forced the door open to get into the business to search for possible fire extension. Nothing was found.

There were no reported injuries.

The fire is not considered suspicious at this time but remains under investigation by detectives from the Hillsborough Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.

The following agencies responded: Hillsborough Fire Marshall, Hillsborough Fire Units 36, 37, and 38, Manville Fire Unit 42, and Robert Wood Johnson EMS.

The Flagtown Fire and Rescue is always looking for volunteers. Interested candidates may stop by any Thursday night at the firehouse at 7 p.m. at 20 Equator Ave. There is a 16- to 18-year-old junior member program as well as regular membership for those interested in being firefighters. Some of the benefits include scholarship opportunities, incentives, and a retirement (LOSAP) program.
