Man Found Dead In Grass Near Route 206 In Hillsborough

Pedestrians reported finding the unresponsive man lying facedown in the grass on Monday, said Hillsborough Police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — An unresponsive man found lying in the grass along Amwell Road prompted a death investigation in Hillsborough on Monday.

On April 8, at around 4:23 p.m., pedestrians reported discovering an unknown man who was down and unresponsive, said Hillsborough Township Police.

The man was discovered in the grass area located between the Shell Gas Station and the Bank of America near the eastbound lanes of Amwell Road near Route 206.

"He was positioned face down dressed in black clothing and was not easily visible from the roadway," said Hillsborough Police Lt. Thomas McLain.

Police and rescue squad personnel went to help when it was learned that the man was dead.

"It is believed at this time that the man suffered a medical issue that caused his death and there is no concern for public safety," said McLain.

The New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office came and took custody of the man. The Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, as well as a positive identification.

No further information is available for release at this time pending positive identification and next of kin notifications.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department.
