Mustang Erupts Into Flames In Hillsborough

Hillsborough firefighters were able to extinguish the fire on Monday.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A car fire was extinguished by Hillsborough firefighters on Monday.

The fire was reported at 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of Dukes West and New Centre Road in Hillsborough.

"The driver of the 2015 Ford Mustang reported to Hillsborough Police fficers that he was driving the vehicle when he heard a loud 'pop' and saw parts of the vehicle fall off as he drove," said Sergeant Scott W. McCarthy.

The driver stopped the car and saw smoke and flames. Once officers were on the scene the car was fully engulfed.

Firefighters from Engine 36 quickly extinguished the fire.

No injuries were reported by the driver. The vehicle was then towed.
