Scam Alert: Hillsborough Residents Report IRS Phony Calls
Have you received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and demanding money? It's a scam.

Hillsborough, NJ -- If you get a call from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) it is a scam.
A large number of Hillsborough residents have reported receiving calls from people claiming to be representatives with the IRS threatening them that if they do not make a tax or warrant payment they will be arrested, Hillsborough Township Police report.
"These calls are part of an ongoing scam. If the IRS needed to contact a resident, they would do so via mail, not phone," Hillsborough Police stated in a Nixle alert. "Additionally, the police department would not respond as “debt collectors” on their behalf. Please do not send any sort of payment over the phone or via wired funds!"
