Sentencing Reconsideration Asked For Son of Ex-NY Giant

The victim of a DUI hit-and-run by the son of ex-New York Giants football player Brad Benson is 'upset' with probation sentencing: media

Hillsborough, NJ -- Days after a judge gave probation to Clint Benson, son of ex-New York Giants football player Brad Benson, the Somerset Count Prosecutor's Office is asking for the sentence to be reconsidered, according to mycentraljersey.com.

Benson, 24, of Amwell Road in Hillsborough was sentenced on Tuesday to 36 months probation on charges of assault by auto and drunk driving for allegedly running down a man and leaving the scene on St. Patrick’s Day, according to mycentraljersey.com.

He was also sentenced by Superior Court Judge Robert Reed to 364 days in Somerset County Jail only if he did not follow the condition of his bail, including receiving psychiatric treatment. He also had his driver's license revoked for a year, according to the report.

However, Assistant Prosecutor Frank Kolodzieski II filed court papers on Thursday stating that the victim, Richard Lachner, 26, of Flemington was "upset" with the probationary sentence, according to mycentraljersey.com.

Benson had struck Lachner with his pickup truck after an argument on Sunday, March 17, 2013, police report.
