Township Credit Card Grants Up for Grabs

Deadline for senior and youth groups to apply is Oct. 4

Township Credit Card Grants Up for Grabs

The application process for grants funded by the township’s credit card will open on Sept. 4.

The funds are then distributed to various township non-profit senior citizen groups and youth organizations through a grant process. The grants are awarded twice a year.

The credit card program, at no cost to taxpayers, allows individuals or businesses to sign up for the special Hillsborough Township credit card that gives back a portion of every charge in the form of grants to non-profit local youth and senior citizen groups as recommended by the Credit Card Advisory Committee and approved by the Township Committee.

The grants are awarded twice a year.

The grant process was streamlined earlier this year and the requirements were clarified.

The grant application process will be open from Sept. 4  through Oct. 4, Applications can be found online at the municipal website or at the Municipal Clerk/Administrator’s office.

Completed applications must be returned to the Township Clerk/Administrator’s office by Oct. 4.

“We are always excited to open the application process, because that means the  program is working and organizations within Hillsborough are benefiting,” said Deputy Mayor Gloria McCauley, liaison to the Credit Card Advisory Committee. "As always, we encourage the use of the card and organizations such as our nonprofit, senior and youth organizations to apply for the grants. It is a win-win for everyone.”

In April, eight organizations–Senior Group B, Hillsborough Heat, the Resource Center of Somerset, Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts of 1776, the YMCA, Hillsborough Rockettes and Woodfern HAS–received a total of $5,025 in grants.

“During every application process, we look forward to awarding the grants and continuing to grow the program,” said Mayor Carl Suraci. “I encourage everyone to get the Hillsborough Rewards Credit Card and to use it.”
