Officials Spreading Fire Prevention Awareness

Officials Spreading Fire Prevention Awareness

The Township Committee has proclaimed Oct. 7-13 as Fire Prevention Week.

Mayor Carl Suraci and the Township Committee presented the proclamation on Tuesday to fire marshals John Yanko and Charles Naura.

The theme of this year’s national Fire Prevention Week is “Have Two Ways Out!”. That is a reminder for families to develop and practice a home fire escape plan.

A flyer on how to develop a home escape plan can be found on the township’s website.

“We want to get the message out,” Yanko said, adding that fire officials are willing to answer any questions that residents might have.

Questions can be emailed to Hillsborough.firesafety@comcast.net. The Bureau of Fire Safety is located in the municipal complex in the area of the library and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 908-369-4313, Ext. 178

The fire marshals are visiting township schools this week as part of the Fire Prevention Week activities.
