Upcoming Library Programs Provide Well-Being Information

The Hillsborough Library will be closed on May 14 for Staff Development Day, and open from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. onMay 25 following the Hillsborough Memorial Day Parade.

Saturday, May 25

Celebrate Memorial Day by marching with the Hillsborough Public Library in the Hillsborough Memorial Day Parade! We'll have a great time together as we walk the parade route from Auten Road to New Amwell Road to Beekman Lane and end at the Municipal Complex, a distance of about 1.5 miles. Enjoy the community spirit and be a part of something special! The parade begins at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 25 and lasts about an hour. Stay afterward at the Municipal Complex for a moving tribute to our Veterans in the Garden of Honor. Please note that children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Did you know that the Friends of the Hillsborough Library have daily book sales?? DVDs, CDs and hardcover books are only $1. Paperbacks, records, children’s books and magazines are only 25 cents! VHS tapes are FREE! May Special: Children’s Books are 20 cents each!

ESL Conversation Group – May 13 and May 20 at 7 p.m.
Sign up for our mixed gender ESL Conversation Group sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers. Must know basic English. Last Day is May 20!  
Helping a Loved One With Mental Health Issues – May 15 at 12 p.m.
This presentation will cover how to help a loved one seek out professional care.  A short review of how the mental health system works and how you can navigate through the maze.  We will cover the major reasons people seek help and how it appears through a person's life cycle. Presented by Robyn Marks, Certified Prevention Specialist, Princeton House.
Stress Busters: Wave Goodbye to Your Stress and Tension – May 16 at 7 p.m.
Dr Laura DeMarzo, Ed.D and Linda Ritter, LCSW, from The Center for Psychological Services will guide you through techniques to improve health and well being. This workshop will help individuals learn techniques for stress management and living a healthy emotional life. Participants should bring a mat or towel for meditation exercises.

Zumba – May 20 at 7 p.m.
Join us for an energizing six week series! Mon. 5/20, Wed. 5/29, Mon. 6/03, Mon. 6/10, Mon. 6/17 and Mon. 6/24.  As long as you're moving and having fun, there is no wrong way to Zumba! Join Kindermusik's Ms. Jenni for quality entertaining music that helps your child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, nurturing, family-friendly setting.
Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Grades K-4 ONLY – May 20 at 4 p.m.
This is Therapy Dog International's Program: Children Reading to Dogs! Spend time reading to Xena, a TDI certified dog! Each registered child will get 10 special minutes practicing reading skills while Xena listens. Online registration is NOT available for this program – call or stop by the Children’s Desk. Please arrive early – if you are late for your time slot you will lose your spot! 
Early Reader Book Club – Grades K-2 – May 21 at 4 p.m.
An exciting program for brand-new readers! At each program we will discuss the book, do some activities and make a craft. Please be sure to read the book before the program. Copies will be available at the Children's Desk. This program: 'Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa: Partners' by Erica Silverman
