Urge to Purge? Drop Off Recyclables on Saturday

Being cooped up in the house during an endless cold snap can make a person look around bedrooms, linen closets and home offices and wonder why they are holding onto so much stuff.

On Saturday, you have a chance to unload it.

Here is a list of items that you can haul to the  Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater. The once-a-month opportunity is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Small stuffed animals in a plastic bag
  • Drapes, curtains, sheets, or towels gathered in a plastic bag
  • Belts, handbags, shoes (pairs) in a plastic bag
  • The usual curbside stuff. See this page for more .
Canned goods are also accepted to fill the shelves for the  Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

If your desk is cluttered with obsolete equipment, you can also drop off electronic items at Newtech Recycling Inc., located at 600A Apgar Drive, Somerset from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. On weekdays, they are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

They'll take old TVs, laptops, computer monitors and more.
