Hoboken Green Architect Earns Major Recognition

Hoboken's Dean Marchetto has completed more than 100 buildings in the city, including Park + Garden and VINE.

Hoboken, NJ - The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently announced that Dean Marchetto of Hoboken and Michael R. Schnoering of Yardley, Pennyslvania, have earned their way into the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) College of Fellows.

“The fellowship program was developed to honor those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society, and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession,” a news release stated.

The program recognizes architects in several categories, including outstanding service to the profession, service to the community, design, architectural education and career or volunteer excellence beyond the built environment.

The 2016 fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2016 National AIA Convention and Design Exposition in Philadelphia.

According to the news release, Marchetto is the founder of Marchetto, Higgins and Stieve Architects PC, launched in 1982, which has completed more than 100 multi-family buildings.

Among Marchetto’s most notable projects is Park + Garden Hoboken, a mixed-use, LEED Gold high-rise in northern Hoboken that includes a recreational roof deck and a K-8 public charter school.

Marchetto also designed VINE, a 135-unit development at the doorstep of Hoboken’s 9th Street light rail station.

“The AlA has been a constant guiding light in my effort to practice in this profession at the highest level,” stated Marchetto, a 35-year member of the organization. “I want to sincerely thank my friends and colleagues at the New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Architects League of Northern New Jersey for their encouragement and support in my career and my elevation to the College of Fellows.”
