Hoboken's HOPES CAP Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Mary Dawn Zimmer will present proclamation to agency on Saturday.
The proclamation also honors more than 1,000 Community Action Agencies nationwide formed as a result of President Lyndon Johnson’s signing of the Equal Opportunity Act to proclaim war on poverty, half a century ago.
The special proclamation will be presented to Ora Welch, president/CEO of HOPES at 301 Garden St.
The presentation will be made between 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday during the fourth annual Rock'n 4 Autism Awareness Concert at the HOPES auditorium.
"We are very proud of the multitude of programs that have blossomed over the last 50 years and make such a difference in the Hoboken community,” Welch said. “In many cases, our services aid several generations in one family, helping them live better lives.”
