He worked for General Motors for 38 years and worked out at the Brookdale Fitness Center for over 20 years after his retirement.

Anthony V. Afflitto, 79, of Hazlet, NJ, died on February 27, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Anthony and Carmela Afflitto and lived in Hazlet for the past 54 years. Tony worked as a Tool and Die Maker for General Motors for 38 years and he worked out at the Brookdale Fitness Center for over 20 years after his retirement.  Tony played tennis and enjoyed running in his younger days.  He was an avid Jeopardy watcher and he loved doing crossword puzzles and jumbles.  Tony loved his family very much. He adored his grandchildren and he enjoyed babysitting each and every one of them.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carol Ann Afflitto; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Brenda Afflitto of Hilliard, OH, Michael and Sherri Afflitto of Lincroft, NJ, and A. Richard and Joelle Afflitto of Leander, TX; and his seven grandchildren, Daniel, Stephen, Gabrielle, Abigail, Alec, Owen, and Elise.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Carmela Afflitto, and his six brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 6 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union.
