New Assistant School Superintendent Hired In Hazlet

The Hazlet Township Board of Education appointed Joseph J. Annibale as assistant superintendent of schools.

Hazlet schools have a new assistant superintendent.

On Monday, the Hazlet Township Board of Education appointed Joseph J. Annibale as assistant superintendent of schools.

He replaces Dr. David A. Roman, who was recently appointed as the school superintendent in Perth Amboy.

In a prepared statement, Board President William Kolibas said:

“We are very pleased that we were able to secure such a high caliber candidate for this vacancy with the level of experience that Mr. Annibale brings to the position.”

According to a news release from the district:

Annibale began his career 18 year ago, teaching elementary school in the New York Public School system.

In 2002, he became an assistant principal at P.S. 44, an elementary school in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island.

In 2005, he became an assistant principal at Memorial School in the Union Beach, then became principal of that school in 2008.

In January 2011, he was appointed as superintendent of the Union Beach School District, and he led that school system through the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

Annibale lives in Middletown, with his wife, Janice, and children, John and Olivia.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in education from Wagner College in Staten Island. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Standing in Supervision and Administration from the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the Shore Center for Students with Autism, and is a member of the Hazlet Rotary Club.

“I look forward to working with Mr. Annibale in implementing our district’s mission of educating our students to achieve their maximum potential and providing superlative educational programs to the children of Hazlet,” Dr. Bernard F. Bragen, Jr., the superintendent of schools, said in a prepared statement.
