Police Urge Caution on Roadways, More Snow on the Way
Motorists should be careful of high snow mounds near intersections and pedestrians clearing driveways, police said.
A state of emergency issued Thursday that restricted travel on township roads was lifted at 8 a.m. Friday, but Sgt. John-Paul Beebe said snow mounds could obstruct motorists at intersections and cautioned motorists to be alert of pedestrians who might be near the roadway clearing their driveways.
"The snow build at intersections may obstruct the line of sight for motorists. The Department of Public Works is actively correcting this situation," Beebe said. "Motorists are reminded that they should never proceed into an intersection unless that they have a clear line of sight. Accidents in these situations can be avoided by exercising a little patience."
More snow is expected Saturday with up to 3 inches possible, according to the National Weather Service.
There have also been several roof collapses in North Jersey due to the heavy snowfall. Beebe suggests having a contractor inspect the roof in there is a concern it could collapse.
