Jefferson Township preliminary budget for 2014 will see a 3.8 percent increase over last year, according to officials at a Jan. 15 council meeting.
Jefferson Township Chief Financial Officer William Eagen and Township Administrator James Leach presented the preliminary documents to the council, with
Leach anticipating further cuts as the budget process continues, a report on NorthJersey.com said.
The preliminary budget saw
no new hiring of employees, and included the hope of an increased surplus and the discussion of future, long-range plans affecting the township, according to NorthJersey.com.
Public meetings on the budget were also announced. The schedule is: Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.; Feb. 12 and 26 and 7 p.m.; March 5 at 6 p.m.; and March 7 at 7 p.m.
