Massive Fish Kill Reported In Oyster Creek Discharge Canal

Thousands of fish died over the past week, not related to plant operations, DEP and Exelon spokespersons say.

It might be the cold weather. It might be a predator. But state Department of Environmental Protection has no way to help the thousands of menhaden who have choked a Oyster Creek discharge canal over the past week, according to app.com

More than 5,000 fish have died. The water temperature in the canal water is hovering in the high 40-degree range, but water downstream is in the mid-30s, the story states.

DEP spokesperson Larry Ragonese and Exelon spokesperson Suzanne D’Ambrosion both said the fish kill was not related to any plant operations.
