Stablehand Threatened to Kill Man at Monmouth Park, Police Say

Fredi Errarte held on $10,000 bail

Stablehand Threatened to Kill Man at Monmouth Park, Police Say

A Monmouth Park stablehand is jailed on $10,000 bail after he threatened to kill a fellow worker, police said.

Fredi Errarte, 28, was arrested Aug. 28 by Oceanport police after another employee said a disagreement escalated to Errarte grabbing him and holding scissors to his throat, saying he would kill him if he spoke to police, according to a complaint filed with Superior Court.

Oceanport Capt. Daniel Barcus said Errarte and the alleged victim both work for trainers who house their horses at the Park, and had been "reportedly disagreeing over the care of their respective horses."

The victim made a complaint to track security about a week before the alleged incident with scissors, Barcus said. He again went to track security after Errarte allegedly threatened his life, and security called Oceanport police, Barcus said.

Errarte is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Sept. 5, according to the complaint.

He is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $10,000 bail. Errarte is forbidden contact with the alleged victim should he make bail.
