LEA Announces Festive Fundraising Weekend
Inaugural Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend, which is scheduled for October, will raise money for Livingston schools.

Members of the Livingston Education Foundation, the Big 'L' and the West Essex YMCA formally announced at both the Board of Education and Township Council meetings on Monday the Inaugural Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend, an event which is scheduled for October.
The weekend, which will celebrate education and wellness, will begin on Friday, October 15 with a visit from the four Livingston High School Alumni Honorees who will be inducted into the revitalized LHS Hall of Fame at Livingston High School, where they will meet with students and faculty.
The alumni honorees include: Harlan Coben (Class of 1980), the internationally known author of mystery novels and thrillers in which many of his characters appear in settings in and around the New York and New Jersey area, including Livingston; Jennifer Goodman Linn (Class of 1989), who combined her determination as a cancer survivor and expertise in marketing to co-found Cycle for Survival, an indoor team cycling fundraiser that supports research on rare or "orphan" cancers; Major Glenn K. Rieth (Class of 1976), appointed as the 30th Adjutant General of New Jersey, who commands Soldiers and Airmen of the NJ Army and Air National Guard, directs, controls and manages the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs in the execution of federal and state missions; and Joanne Silberner (Class of 1973), health policy correspondent for National Public Radio (NPR) covering medicine, health reform and changes in the health care marketplace.

There will be a Hall of Fame Dinner during the weekend, on Saturday, at Cedar Hill Country Club, which is open to the public. Tickets are $125 a seat. All proceeds from the dinner will go to initiatives of the Livingston Education Foundation in support of the Livingston Public Schools.
Also, the public will be invited to join all LHS alumni and the current student body to attend the LHS Homecoming Football Game that same evening at 7 p.m.

In a partnership to promote wellness and wellness education, LEF will join the Big 'L' Club and the West Essex YMCA to launch an Inaugural 5-K Run on Sunday, October 17 at 8 a.m. This intergenerational event will feature a 5-K Run, a 1 Mile Walk/Run, special track and field events for young children, as well as the provision of health related information for all ages.
LEF is looking for volunteers to support all aspects of the weekend event, as well as to bring personal and professional experience to the Foundation in its effort to provide fundraising, advocacy and partnerships with individuals and community businesses as creative alternative solutions for education funding.
