AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT -"Big, the musical" at Shadow Lawn Stage at Monmouth University

Shadow Lawn Stage, the professional theatre of Monmouth University in N.J., announces its auditions for “Big, the musical” to be presented in July 2015.

DATE: Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch from Noon to 1 p.m.
LOCATION: Woods Theatre, Monmouth University. GPS location: 370 Cedar Avenue, Long Branch, NJ. Theatre and parking is a right-turn off Cedar Avenue, one block after SR-71-south turns onto Norwood Avenue.

REHEARSALS: begin Monday, June 22. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays, July 8 – 25, 2015, with matinees on Fridays at 3 p.m.
Auditions are first-come, first-served.
PREPARATION: Please prepare a brief contemporary comedic monologue and a brief contemporary musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in your key. Accompanist will be provided.

CAST NEEDS:
• Billy Kopecki – Josh’s best and most supportive friend. Male, 11 – 13 years old; Range: f#3-F5
• Young Josh Baskin – obscure 7th grader who is frustrated by his parents and his age; male, 11-13 yrs old; range: F3-G5
• George Macmillan – the owner of a toy company; distinguished and a bit spry. Male,50 – 65 yrs old, range: C3-G4
• Josh Baskin – the story’s protagonist. He has the mind and spirit of a 13 year old trapped in the body of an adult. Male, 25-35 yrs old; range: Bb2-B4
• Mrs. Baskin – Josh’s frustrated, loving mother struggling with parenting. Female, 35 – 45 yrs old; range: G3-f#5
• Paul Seymour – VP for Product Development at Macmillan Toy Company, vying for Susan’s attention. Handsome, aggressive, self-absorbed. Male, 30-40 yrs old; range: Ab3-Eb4
• Susan Lawrence – attractive, business-oriented VP of Marketing at the toy company. Possesses a giddy, school-girl innocence about her. Falls for the “adult” Josh. Female, 30-40 yrs old; range: G3-F5
