Car Crash Caused Forest Fire, Closed Long Valley Road
BREAKING: A car accident caused a small forest fire near Benedict Cucinella School Thursday afternoon.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ— A car ran off the road, crashed into trees and burst into flames in Long Valley Thursday afternoon.
A 53-year-old woman drove off Naughright Road for an unknown reason at 2:39 p.m., police said. Her car hit a tree, and passerby's were able to remove her from the car before it became fully engulfed in flames.
She was transported to nearby Benedict Cucinella School by Long Valley First Aid Squad where she was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center by the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit.

The fire spread to nearby trees and brush. It was extinguished by the Washington Township Fire Company and New Jersey Forest Fire.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Washington Township Emergency Services Unit, the Morris County Prosecutors Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and the Morris County Sheriffs Department.

Naughright Road is closed between Arrowhead Drive and Jackie Drive due to a car accident, Washington Township Police said at 3:02 p.m. They did not say when it might reopen.
Drivers should avoid the area and use an alternate route.
