Former LVMS Assistant Principal Nominated Among Nation's Top Superintendents
Jay Eitner now serving as schools chief in Lower Alloways district.

When former Long Valley Middle School Assistant Principal Jay Eitner left the district in Aug. 2012, it was unknown what his next step in the education field would be.
Less than three years later, that step seems to be the right one, becoming the Superintendent of Schools in Lower Alloways School District and garnering a nomination as one of the best school chiefs in the country by the 2015 Bammy Awards.
According to its website, The Bammy Awards is “a cross-discipline honor that identifies and acknowledges the extraordinary work being done across the entire education field ever day – from teachers, principals and superintendents, to school nurses, support staff, advocates, researchers, school custodians, early childhood specialists, education journalists, parents and students.”

By its own admission, The Bammy Awards was created to help reverse “the negative national narrative that dominates the education field.”
Eitner served as the Middle School Assistant Principal for two full school years from 2010 to 2012 and was a history teacher prior to that.
