Long Valley Family Seeks Help After Father Dies from Thanksgiving Heart Attack

By all accounts, Steve Nico was a loving, loyal family man.

The husband and father of two suffered a major heart attack on Thanksgiving, and succumbed to his ailment late Monday night.

Nico, a nightshift employee at the Daytop facility in Mendham, was the primary caretaker for his two sons during the daytime hours.

Now, in addition to finding child care going forward, the family is burdened with funeral costs.

A GoFundMe page has been established for the family, which can be seen here. A goal has been established at $10,000, but may be altered since the page was set up before Nico’s death.

The page, established by family friend Julia Buccini, states, “Please help in any way you can. The last thing the Nico family needs is to worry about expenses when going through such a tragic time.”
