Drone-Sparked Beat Down in Madison Caught on Video

Woman thought the teen was filming women on the beach

Drone-Sparked Beat Down in Madison Caught on Video

One woman took it upon herself to defend beachgoers' privacy, after she noticed a 17-year-old teen piloting a remote-controlled camera-carrying drone.

Andrea Mears, 23, of Westbrook, believed the pilot was taking pictures of women on the public beach. She called the police but then attacked the drone pilot before authorities arrived. The drone pilot videoed the incident with his cell phone.

Mears was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and disturbing the peace, according to PIX11. The beat-down took place May 12 at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, but the video was posted Sunday on LiveLeak.

Mears can be seen on the video striking and yelling at the drone pilot, who called for help and asked bystanders to call the police. Mears was arraigned in Superior Court on May 28, according to WFSB 3 TV.
