Maryland man faces DWI and other charges following late Tuesday night accident.
Joshua Strong, 29, of Glen Burnie, Md., was charged with DWI within 1,000 feet of a school zone, failure to maintain lane, having an open container in a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
According to Madison Police Lt. Joseph Cirella, officers responded to a single-car crash in the area of Madison Avenue and Kings Road at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The officers found a 2003 Ford crashed into the New Jersey Transit bridge and the driver staggering outside of the vehicle smelling of alcohol, with bloodshot eyes and injuries related to the accident, Cirella said.
The Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Strong to Morristown Medical Center for treatment.
Strong was later released and charged. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.
