The Madison Chamber of Commerce's annual awards dinner will be held Tuesday, June 10 at Wyndham/Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center in Florham Park.
The event, which runs from 6 to 10:30 p.m., will include a buffet style dinner, cash bar, door prizes and an awards ceremony to be held in the Ambassador Ballroom. The cocktail hour will be held in the courtyard garden if the weather permits.
The Jack Morris Memorial Scholarship Award, various Business Improvement awards, Community Service Awards, the Historic Business Award and the Extra Mile Award will all be presented.
The Jack Morris Memorial Scholarship award was designed for graduating students who plan to continue their higher education in the field of commerce. Recipients were chosen based on their personal achievement, letters of reference and academic performance. The winners are John D'Addario, Abigail Raymaker and Frank Iannarone Jr.
The business improvement awards will honor the Downtown Development Commission for Best Signage, K9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel, 22 Prospect St. for Best Renovation, The Rocking Horse, 10 Waverly Place, and Starting Line Sports, 40 Main St., for Best ReLaunch. The Appreciation award will honor The Taste of Madison Committee and Doodlebugz, 55 Main St.
The Community Service award will honor Madison's Christmas Committee and the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award will honor Dr. Allison Adams of Adams Dental, One Kings Rd.
The Historic Business Award will recognize the Madison Car Wash & Detail Center, 267 Main St., Madison Auto Body, 14 Kings Rd., Madison PhotoPlus, 40 Main St., and Romanelli's Pizza & Italian Eatery, 42 Lincoln Place.
“These businesses and individuals are being honored for their dedication and support of Madison businesses and the community as a whole.” said Ken Toumey, president of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. “This fun event allows us to say Thank you and give recognition to those who make a difference."
To help celebrate the 125th anniversary of Madison, the Chamber is recognizing families that have been in business in the borough for at least 50 years through to 2014.The Chamber has identified nearly 25 families so far. If your family meets these criteria, contact the Chamber to be included in the roll.
The roll call of the 50-year families will be read at the awards dinner and a brief history the families’ businesses will be shared with the attendees.
“The 50-year families are a foundation of our business community and continue to make Madison a great place to work and live,” said Carmine Toto, Jr. of C. Toto & Sons, Inc., 74 Keep St. “The Chamber as a group thinks that Madison’s 125th anniversary is the fitting time to give these Madison families a little recognition."
This year will also honor those individuals who are chosen by the community to receive the Extra Mile Award. The Extra Mile Award rewards Madison employees and business owners who provide outstanding customer service.
“These individuals are recognized for that extra-special friendly and knowledgeable service, which truly makes a difference in the customer’s shopping experience," Chamber Executive Director Karen Meyer said.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased with cash or check. Checks can be made payable to The Madison Chamber of Commerce and sent to P.O. Box 152, Madison, NJ 07940. The RSVP deadline is June 6.
