The Madison Athletic Foundation’s first 50/50 Cash Raffle drawing is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the Madison Recreation Complex located off Ridgedale Avenue in Madison.

Former Governor and State Sen. Richard J. Codey will pull the winning ticket, which is expected to be worth close to $75,000, according to a foundation news release Thursday.

The MAF has been for $100 per ticket and the raffle drawing amount is believed to be the biggest in the history of Madison community fundraising efforts, the news release said.

Tickets can be purchased up to the actual drawing. Representatives will be at the MRC turf fields starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. All net proceeds from the raffle will benefit the recently completed MRC synthetic turf fields project, the foundation said.

The MAF, founded in 2006, is a fundraising and support organization that aims to improve Madison residents' recreation and sports experiences.  The MAF’s first project was the installation of the multi-use synthetic turf field at Madison High School, Ted Monica Stadium at Twombly Field.

Recently the MAF has partnered with the borough to raise $3.5 million to help pay for the multi-use synthetic turf field complex at the new Madison Recreation Center, with efforts including community fundraisers, corporate and private donations and sponsorships, user fees and field rentals. The MAF is a 501c3 organization.
