Update: 62-Year-Old Man Dies In Fatal Mahwah Accident

A man was killed after he lost control of his truck and it rolled over on Stag Hill Road Friday morning, police said.

Mahwah Police responded to the accident on Stag Hill Road at 6:35 a.m. which as passing motorist reported, said Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli. The accident occurred approximately one-quarter of a mile near the top of Stag Hill Road.

Police said Glenn B. Slater, 62, of Hewitt just filled the water tank and was heading down Stag Hill Road towards Route 17 when he lost control of the truck and it hit several trees and rolled over on its side.

Slater was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by police, Batelli said.

The dumpster and water bed came off the truck; the dumpster came to rest in the middle of the road, police reported.

No witnesses saw the accident and police are interviewing people who saw Slater before he drove down Stag Hill Road, Batelli said.

The Mahwah Fire Department, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Unit, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, and the New Jersey State Police Truck Inspection Unit assisted the police at the scene.
