Mahwah Resident to Play Ralphie in the National Tour of 'A Christmas Story'

Eleven-year-old Colton Maurer says landing the role of Ralphie was "a dream come true."

Mahwah resident Colton Maurer will be joining the National Tour of “A Christmas Story” as he plays beloved character, Ralphie Parker.

“A Christmas Story: The Musical” will open Friday, Nov. 14 in Owensboro, KY and will make stops in Appleton, WI, Memphis, TN, Dallas, TX and St. Louis, MO.

For 11-year-old Maurer, landing the role of Ralphie was “...a dream come true.”

Maurer enjoys playing Ralphie because “he goes for a dream and never gives up. He cares about his family and friends and has a great imagination,” Maurer said. “There are things I relate to very well with Ralphie.”

Maurer, who began acting when he was six, says his favorite part of acting is “...being able to play roles that are different than what [I] would do in real life.” And although he’s enjoyed playing many different roles, Maurer says, ”...[his] all time favorite [role is] Ralphie.”

In the future, Maurer says he “would like to continue to act in all areas, stage, film and television.”

“I would like to make this my career,” Maurer said.
