Town Honoring Mahwah's State Champ Baseball Team

The community is invited to the Saturday evening ceremony

Town Honoring Mahwah's State Champ Baseball Team

The 2012 Mahwah High School Boys Varsity Baseball team was the first baseball from the township to ever win the state title. This Saturday, the town is honoring the team for its accomplishment.

“We are going to be holding a ring ceremony,” Mahwah Athletic Director Roger Pelletier said, where players will receive championship rings, a proclamation from the mayor and township council, and plaques from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The team already has one sign up on Ridge Road touting its 2012 championship. The town will present another sign to the team Saturday night. This one, Pelletier said, he hopes will be placed along Franklin Turnpike, near the sign congratulating the 2010 girls soccer championship team.

Because the members of the team who were seniors last year are away at college, they will get their rings during a ceremony for the team at the halftime of a Mahwah basketball game in January.

The township is inviting the general public to attend Saturday night’s ceremony, which begins at 5 p.m. in town hall.

“The championship playoff run really became a community event,” Pelletier said. “We are hoping they will come share this with us too.”

The members of the team were Adam Hanig, David Gagliardotto, Andrew Shuart, Kyle Morgan, Ian Curry, Ross Lasker, Bobby Wright, Brendan Brown,  Cole Fabio, Eric Kaplan, Chris Baldi, CJ Musemeci, John Pantano, Greg Rozar, Mike Altamuro,  Liam Kantanas,  Matt Krupa, Shane Woelfel, Jason Stepp, David Carrillo and Zack Fregueletti,  Ryan Remo and Ben Hartwick.
