When it comes to choosing a breakfast place, it seems everyone looks for the same thing. Speedy, friendly service with less than expensive food.
Each town has a plethora to chose from with patrons whom are loyal to each. When my friends and I choose to eat our first meal of the day in Belmar, the only place we ever go is The Belmar Cafe.
The Belmar Cafe is a family owned and operated eatery and has been since the beginning. There is just more respect and better service when the owners are actually the ones serving and cooking your food.
The service is always, always fast, efficient and given with a smile. It usually doesn't take more than a few minutes to get seated and everything from the bathrooms to the silverware are always very clean.
While only open until 3 p.m., they specialize in breakfast but also serve some lunch items. Each time I've gone, I've eaten breakfast.
The last I ate there, I was with a group of friends. We had everything from the fresh baked muffins to pancakes to omelettes. I had a bran muffin, cheddar cheese, broccoli and tomato omelette, rye toast, bacon, coffee and orange juice. The omelette was cheesy yet light. When I got it, it wasn't so hot that it burned my mouth and it was packed with ingredients.
The toast was regular rye but not burnt and not over buttered. The bacon was actually cooked to my specification, which is extra crispy. Most places have a hard time getting this right.
The coffee is also great, which for me, is a huge plus. Most places have burnt coffee that has been sitting until the pot is gone. Theirs always tastes freshly made.
When I asked everyone in attendance to give me an overall opinion on the restaurant, the consensus was "We loved it. Everything was great. Including the service and the prices."
I would highly recommend anyone looking for a good breakfast place with a happy staff, clean environment and quick service so you can get on with your day, go to The Belmar Cafe. Ask for Despina. She's the owner's daughter and is by far the nicest, most amusing waitress you'll get.
