Chamber Art Show, Berry Festival To Happen In Manasquan, Despite Concerns
Concerns about parking, competition were raised
The Manasquan Council on Monday agreed to have the Chamber Art Show and Berry Festival in the South Street Plaza parking lot this summer.
Pam Patullo, a Mansquan owner of Yellow Daisy, says this event takes place twice a year: once in the spring and once in the fall.
"This is the first time we are having these special events in the plaza in Manasquan," said Patullo.
Some concerns arose about the event during the council's meeting Monday.
"Someone from that area near the plaza said they were not thrilled about this event happening because it would kill their business," said Councilman Joseph Bossone.
John Newman, president of the Manasquan Chamber of Commerce, said this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use this location and it will attract more people for business.
In addition, parking was another concern that was raised.
"There will be plenty of parking including some in the plaza," said Patullo.
"We will make arrangements with the church and the funeral home for addtional parking," added Newman.
Patullo and Newman expect about 50 to 60 vendors will attend these events and about 1,500 from the public.
"The chamber will also sponsor an officer to help people across the street," said Newman.
The Chamber Art Show will take place on July 19 and the Berry Festival will take place on Aug. 9.
