MANCHESTER, NJ — A 17-year-old escaped injury Tuesday night when her car left the road, hit a tree and caught fire near Harry Wright Lake, Manchester police said Wednesday.
The 17-year-old girl was driving a 2013 BMW 328 south on Roosevelt City Road shortly after 6 p.m., Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said. The teen, from Whiting, was making a left turn onto Nature Drive when the car left the road and hit the tree, he said.
After the car hit the tree it began to smoke and caught fire, Malland said, but the teen was able to get out safely and did not suffer any injuries from either the crash or the fire.
