UPDATE: Two Injured In Route 70 Head-On Crash In Manchester

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday on Route 70, near Beckerville Road, police said.

Jessica MacLean, 32, of Lakehurst was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, via Media-Vac, for leg and internal injuries, police said.

Charles D. Johnson, 77, of Toms River was also transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, by ambulance, for face and internal pain. A third person, James M. McGinty, 54, of Whiting was not injured in the crash, police said.

At 2:53 p.m., 2011 Cadillac SRX, operated by Johnson, was traveling westbound on Route 70 when it collided head-on with a 2001 Dodge STR, police said.

The Dodge, which was traveling eastbound on Route 70, was operated by MacLean, police said.

The impact forced MacLean's vehicle to rotate, and it was then struck by a 2001 Toyota Pick-Up that was also traveling eastbound on Route 70, operated by McGinty.

Assisting at the scene were the Whiting Volunteer Fire Depatment, Quality First Aid, MONOC Paramedics and Media-Vac, State Police and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, among others.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. Douglas Higgins and Ptl. Antonio Ellis, Manchester Traffic Safety Section and Ptl. Scott Thompson of the Patrol Division.

Anyone with information about the crash should contact the Manchester Township Police, Traffic Safety Section, at 732-657-2009, X4400.
