K-7 and 9th graders headed back to school on Thursday; 8th and 10-12th grade followed suit on Friday.

 

Six homes and two businesses were broken into last week. Maplewood Police Capt. John Perna said the police department is stepping up its patrols in the affected areas.

 

The field will likely remain closed through the end of the year because of a fungal infection that has damaged newly replanted sod, according to Township Engineer Thomas Malavasi. 

The closing will complicate playing schedules for local sports teams this fall.

 

In what Mayor Vic DeLuca dubbed "a stinging endorsement," the Maplewood Township Committee voted 4-1 to move ahead with developing an ordinance governing beekeeping in the township.
