North Jersey Pride is conducting a series of age-appropriate, anti-bullying lectures on Wednesday at the school in which students learn about hateful and healing language, the harms of name-calling, how to deal with bullying and who to turn to if bullying happens to them.
High school students will moderate each of the three seminars, which will conclude with a flag-raising ceremony in which students pledge to stand up to bullying.
“We are very excited to partner with Jefferson Elementary School on this program. It’s a wonderful opportunity to educate our young people about the importance of language and standing up for others,”said C.J. Prince, Executive Director of North Jersey Pride. “The earlier our kids learn kindness, compassion and respect, the better.”
Seminars take place as follows on Wednesday:
- 3rd Grade Seminar - 8:30 to 9 a.m.
- 4th Grade Seminar - 9:15 to 9:45 a.m.
- 5th Grade Seminar - 10 to 10:30 a.m.
- Flag raising-ceremony - 2:15 to 2:30 p.m.
