Mendham Cub Scouts Visit West Point

On Saturday, October 15th, Cub Scouts from Mendham’s Pack 133 traveled to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to catch a football game between Army and Lafayette. Eleven families and attended the fun filled event on a beautiful autumn day.

The day began with one of the time honored traditions of Army game day, a full-dress cadet parade that takes place on "The Plain" prior to every home game. Scouts gained a new appreciation of drills and discipline with a close-up view of the remarkable cadence and precision of the march. After the parade, scouts participated in cadet led walking tours and scout activities. At Michie Stadium, a tremendous sense of excitement developed moments before kickoff when several cadets jumped from a helicopter and parachuted onto the field with the official game ball and flags. Army won the battle, er, football game – 62-7.
