Authorities have apprehended a Mt. Olive woman who is accused of killing a man in the Flanders section of the township Monday night.
Virginia Vertetis, 51, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Frederic Knapp said Tuesday. Vertetis is accused of killing Patrick Gilhuley, 51, of Staten Island, N.Y.
Police responded to a home at 2 Apollo Way Monday night just before 10 p.m. and found Gilhuley fatally shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Records show Vertetis owns the home.
Judge Stuart Minkowitz set bail at $700,000 cash, bond or property. Vertetis is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility.
