My name is Frank Higgins and I am running for one of the open positions on the Middletown Board of Education. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and why I am running.

I live in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown with my wife and three children. We moved to Middletown in 2002, before any of my kids started school. When we decided to move, our primary focus was to find a town with a great school district. As we searched, Middletown continuously appeared in our results, so we decided that this was the town for us.

Fourteen years have passed and my daughter graduated from Middletown High School North this past June, my oldest son currently attends North and my youngest son is a student at Thorne Middle School. I enjoy being an active member of our community in several ways including multiple volunteer positions in the church we attend and also in the schools.

I am currently the Director of Purchasing and Asset Management for a national medical company where I have worked for over 10 years.

If I were to be elected some of the policies I would like to work on include:
  • Fostering a less litigious relationship between parents with special need students and the school administration.
  • Ensure that we are maximizing the technology available while still including the basics.
  • Use my current background in negotiating vendor and supply contracts to help with contracts utilized by the district.

I believe in being open and honest and I will be the first to admit that I may not have all the answers, but I will work hard to help with the concerns of our parents. I do not believe in making empty promises and my ultimate goal is to ensure the Board’s focus is on the students of Middletown. We still have a great school system, I would like to be part of taking it to a new level.

I look forward to your support by voting for me on November 8th, 2016.
