Power Back for 1,600 in Middletown

1,624 people lost power Friday morning in Middletown Township, but it's been restored for all but two homes, JCP&L said.

Middletown, NJ - The lights went out for 1,624 people in Middletown Friday morning, but power was restored for many by 8 a.m.

The outage, caused by a transformer failure, affected 1,624 customers and 1,622 were restored, said Ron Morano, a spokesman for Jersey Central Power and Light. The two homes that still remain without power will, unfortunately, remain out until repairs are completed on a transformer.

Crews are working on that now, Morano said. The outage was caused by a transformer fire in the Campbell’s Junction section of Middletown.
