WATCH: Christie Booed Long, Loudly At N.J. Racetrack After American Pharoah Win

Video shows that, when Gov. Chris Christie stepped into the Winner's Circle to present the trophy, anger trumped joy by about seven lengths.

You’d think this would be a happy occasion, with American Pharoah, the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, winning a race on New Jersey soil.

But when Gov. Chris Christie stepped into the Winner’s Circle to present the trophy, anger trumped joy by about seven lengths.

The record Monmouth Park crowd of 60,983 booed - twice - when the governor and presidential candidate appeared at the Haskell Invitational, and when his name was mentioned.

Then Christie’s name was mentioned again, and the booing resumed.

Christie’s popularity has fallen to some of the lowest levels of any New Jersey governor in 25 years as he’s spent a lot of time away from New Jersey while on the campaign trail.

But the disfavor isn’t all about that: Christie has been quoted as saying in the past that he would end horse racing in New Jersey.
