The first concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, featuring the sixth-grade concert band, seventh-grade concert band and jazz band. The second concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when the orchestras, wind ensembles and eighth-grade concert band will perform.
The sixth-grade band, under the direction of Brian Fleming, will perform a diverse program of music on Monday that will include "A New World Adventure" and "Train Heading West."
The seventh-grade band, conducted by Adrienne Blossey, will perform “Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite” by Karl King and “Peregrin” by Douglas Akey. The middle school’s talented jazz ensemble will finish the concert by playing “Sing, Sing, Sing,” a jazz standard, and Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five.”
Marie Tracy will lead the orchestra program Wednesday evening with a variety of music for both strings and full orchestra. The sixth-grade orchestra will perform Saint-Saëns’ famous “French Military March.” Vivaldi’s “Allegro in G” will be featured in the seventh and eighth grade orchestra program.
The middle school’s premiere string ensemble, the Select Strings, will perform Haydn’s famous “Rondo” from his String Quartet No. 33. Meanwhile, the full Symphonic Orchestra will entertain with Holst’s “Jupiter.”
The Wednesday night concert will also feature the eighth-grade band that will perform “Creed, ” a work from composer William Himes, and Brian Balmages’ “La Madre de Los Gatos.”
The Wind Ensemble, which earned a fifth straight Gold Rating at this year’s North Jersey Middle School Concert Band Festival, will play a challenging selection entitled “Alligator Alley” by Michael Daugherty. Fleming will also lead the Wind Ensemble in a creative piece entitled “For the New Day Arisen."
