Montclair Man Faces Vehicular Homicide And Manslaughter For Lincoln Tunnel Crash

Prosecutor: Louis Pine drove his BMW into a minivan, causing a fatality and seven injuries.

Authorities charged Louis Pine, of Montclair, with vehicular homicide and aggravated manslaughter in a Jersey City court on Friday for his role in a fatal crash in 2014.

Prosecutors are alleging that Pine drove his BMW into a minivan while passing through the Lincoln Tunnel, injuring seven people including Steven Benevento of Summit, who died of a cardiac arrest a few hours after being transported to the hospital.

Hudson County prosecutors are charging that Pine was clocked at 91 mph at the time of the crash, reported NJ.com.

During Friday’s court appearance, Pine’s attorney suggested that prior to the accident, his client may have fainted due to a medical condition, NJ.com reported.
