Storm Related Debris Cleanup This Monday

Montclair Township will have a special garbage collection on Monday for storm related debris.

All debris must be brought to the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday. Do not place any tree debris in the street.

The township is estimating the cleanup of logs and tree branches will take several weeks.

After the Nov. 12 deadline, as each street is cleared of debris, the date of collection will be noted and the crews will not return to that street for additional debris, according to the township. Residents will be required to make their own arrangements for disposal going forward.

For the duration of the special cleanup, regular leaf-bag collection will be on Saturday only, with all sections of town collected each week.

Miscellaneous tree debris is defined by the township as follows:

Branches are defined as any tree, bush or shrub parts less than 1 inch in diameter. Branches must be cut in manageable lengths of 3 to 10 feet in length and must be stacked neatly to facilitate disposal. Branches may also be set out in biodegradable paper bags.

Wood chips, tree bark, acorns, tree droppings, etc.

These items must be placed at the curb in biodegradable paper bags or rigid containers not weighing more than 50 pounds each.

Logs are defined as any tree part 1 inch or larger in diameter. Logs are not normally collected as vegetative waste however logs up to 10 inches in diameter will be collected during this storm cleanup only.

Residents must make their own arrangements for disposal of logs larger than 10 inches in diameter. To facilitate collection please keep log piles separate from branch piles.

Stumps will not be collected. Residents must make their own arrangements for disposal.
