Montville Power Outages: Is Your Street On This List?

JCP&L provides township with list of areas still affected by Tropical Storm Sandy.

Montville Power Outages: Is Your Street On This List?

Only about 25 percent of Montville Township remained without power Wednesday, according to Mayor Tim Braden. But despite JCP&L linemen continuing to work in the township, many residents who are still in the dark feel alone.

Some residents told Montville Patch that they did not fear losing power during Wednesday's storm because they still had not seen it restored since Tropical Storm Sandy made landfall Oct. 29.

"Not afraid to lose power since we haven't gotten it back yet. Day 9, and now the [JCP&L] website days [sic] Sunday! Are u kidding me," Megan Ob said on the Montville Patch Facebook page.

Another reader, Sharon Hollfelder, said she hoped to have a few hours with power to heat up her home before the storm.

"This is way too long to go without power. I never see any power trucks around either!" she said.

On Tuesday, Braden said the outage restoration numbers from JCP&L have been "grossly inaccurate." But Ron Morano, a spokesman for the company, said, "The information that we provide is based on estimates."

Up until about 8 p.m. Tuesday, the William Mason School remained without power as well. But Braden said when power was restored, district employees were able to get the building up and running for school to resume Wednesday after more than a week of closings.

JCP&L provided an updated list of outages throughout Montville that was posted on the township website Wednesday. The list includes only the homes JCP&L are aware remain without power and township officials encourage residents who are not on the list but do not have power to call JCP&L and inform them of the outage. JCP&L's outage center can be reached at (888) 544-4877.
