Eastern Mountain Sports in Moorestown Closing

The parent company of Eastern Mountain Sports recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Moorestown, NJ -- It's not just Sports Authority.

The Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) stores in Moorestown and North Brunswick will be closing, an employee confirmed to Patch Monday.

Similarly to Sports Authority, the news comes as the parent company of Eastern Mountain Sports recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

EMS is located in the Moorestown Mall.

"We don't have a set date yet, but will probably close sometime in mid June," the employee told Patch.

Meanwhile, everything in the store must go, the employee told Patch, including all the clothing, outdoor gear and even the store fixtures such as shelves and clothing racks. There are even things like kayak racks for sale, the employee said.

A total of eight EMS locations nationwide are closing as part of the filing by Vestis Retail Group, the parent company.

The remaining EMS locations in New Jersey are at Princeton MarketFair, Bridgewater and in Eatontown. Those three will all remain open.
